Business of the Month – February 2017 – St. Croix Central School District
The Central St. Croix Area Chamber’s Business of the Month for February is the St. Croix Central School District. Superintendent Tim Widiker shared with us how the district improvements are progressing including the progress of the new district office.
The School District purchased the former Associated Bank located at 915 Davis Street in Hammond a couple years ago. The location is great complete with vaults to secure confidential records and plenty of space for storage.
After the referendum passed in November 2014, the remodeling began. The remodel turned the bank into 9 offices, a large conference room and a permanent boardroom. There is also ample storage space in the vaults, two work stations and a kitchenette. There is a large basement, not yet remodeled, but is currently being used for storage.
The project was divided into two phases. Phase I included construction and remodeling of the 9 offices, kitchenette and work spaces. Phase II included construction of the conference room, boardroom, vault remodels, parking lot repaving, removal of the drive through canopy, replacement of windows and siding repair. The staff recently moved into the offices on September 2nd.
Phase I is complete, Phase II is almost complete with the exception of the audio/visual equipment in the board and conference rooms which will be complete within the next 4 weeks.
All other project throughout the district are nearly complete besides the remodeling/reconfiguration of the High School office including the front entrance and insulation of some duct work at the Middle School.
Another exciting improvement to the school district is the video scoreboard at the high school competition gymnasium. Another part of this project is a video scoreboard at the track/football stadium on the high school grounds. The outdoor work will be compete this spring. This impressive project is due to energy reinvestment dollars as well as the support of many local businesses through an advertising program. This scoreboard advertising partnership has raised and will continue to raise $24,000 annually for the school district.
Overall, Mr. Widiker is pleased and proud of the outstanding improvements at all the facilities including the new district office. He says the community is incredibly supportive and the school district has outstanding staff, students and families.
